Seattle: 96 Portland: 85

Flip drilled a 3 for dagger w/time running out, just for fun. Exciting team. Were gonna shock some people this season. Bring on the Clippers.

yawn...Sonics/Blazers pre 2night at Spokane, WA

Sonics and Portland match up 2 nite. Maybe I'll listen to a little on radio but pre season is practice. And what does A.I. say, "were talking about practice, practice?" The real season looms...the Clips are rollin' thru it. Pre season that is. See you for real in a few days.

Better Than Expected?

Not a huge believer in pre season records but it seems the Clippers are 5-2 and winning by some decent numbers. In the pre season. I go with past history on this one. Even with talent the Clippers never "jel". I grew up in the OC and tried to be a Clipper fan on occassion. Talk about an identidy crisis.

The "World B. Free" years in the early 80's were cool. They still lost but World would hoist up 50 shots a game!! But players like Benoit Benjamin, Darnall Velentine, and ...Micheal Cage...the 6' 9" Little Richard! Those players killed my buzz. Although Cage became a Sonic and had a few good years here.  I was more of trying to be a Clipper fan when they were in SD. Had Walton and they still sucked.

But have Checked the Clips roster and it is interesting. Cassell is solid. He bagged Madonna supposedly back in the day...the alien rawks!  Cuttino Mobley, scored a bunch last night in a pre against the Warriors which the Clips won handily.

Last but not least. A Clipper movie moment. And there are not many. Correct me if I'm wrong, and it will only be cuz I don't remember the actor and its been so long. Does not Willem Dafoe in the 1985 movie "To Live & Die In LA" (awesome Wang Chung song by the way, I mean it, it opens the movie) say to another character something about Quentin Daly (ouch) scoring 19 for the Clips that night and he'd take that Daly kid over Jordan anyday? I saw it. Take it back Willem, or whoever you are!

Season Opener in One Week

Its easy as this, November 2nd, the lowly Clips...in our house. This is where the season begins. Where will it end? Only time will tell. I'm hopeful but realistic. We have one bonafide superstar and a supporting cast of characters. Although they plug in quite nicely and you know Luke R is getting better all the time. I give a shout out to Luke, I lived in his sleepy hometown of Blaine, WA and loved it. Glad the world passes it by. And Nick's Diner rawks...get the fish sandwich. Had a b ball court right across from a beautiful 4 bedroom old skool house I lived in and played there all the time.

Now I reside in Sonic enemy territory, Portland, Oregon. Although some of the intensity of the rivalry has diminished due to the Blazers on & off the court problems and crappy record. I'll still be at every game Seattle plays here. Gots no fear, its a Harlem, NYC thang baybee! Been in the endzone in Charger Blue in Oakland, dare you to try it, it was rough. Also I was at all games in Yankee Stadium when the Mariners were in the 1st ever AL Divisional Series, that got out of hand as I sat in the bleachers with Seattle cap and shirt...boo ya! I'm alive and well. Nobody much cared about the Sonics wherever I went. 1994-5 was different. Fairweathered Sonic haters. When we do well, there will always be playah haters, just the way I like it. You know your doing well when people boo you, as strange as that sounds.

One more home game VS Minnesota, then a brutal 6 game east coast road trip. Looks like the Chargers schedule this year, nasty. But it will give the team and coach Weiss a good barometer of where we stand when we head home. We return to the Key at .500 or better I consider the trip a success. So Ray, Rashard, Rid,Vlad, Reggie and Flip, and supporting cast...play every game like the Finals. I will read up on the new players. Johan Petro is new to me but I hear he had a great preseason. I thirst for knowledge so I'll know everybody and all acquisitions we make during the season. Welcome to Sha Lock Lock Sonic Boom, named in honor of the House of Pain song, the "B" side to Jump Around. Either song could be a Sonics theme song, although its considered "Old Skool" hip hop now. Do it Sonics and GO DEEP...into the playoffs and beyond!
